Dave was away for work this week and I went in to the week feeling very confident about wrangling two kiddos alone. I've got this down. I should've known when my car had to be fixed on Sunday because it was leaking anti-freeze that it wasn't going to be the best week. Last time Dave went away Zac was 6 weeks old and my week ended with me crying in the halls at school (oh yeah...it was an ugly cry too) to one of the teachers (who thankfully is our neighbor) over the Muddy Pup book that Tyler ripped when he brought it home for book swap from school. I blame it on the hormones :)
Well, Zac woke up on Tuesday and his eye was crusted shut. Like couldn't open it if he tried :( So, I finally got it to open and was pretty sure it was pink eye. But the doctor doesn't bring kids in with pink eye because it's too contagious. So the nurse and I determined that's what it was. One thing we've never dealt with here. I took off on Tuesday (the only day this month that I actually had a meeting) and then had to call grammy 911 (Dave's Mom this time...my mom was on vacation this week) and ask if she could come down on Wed to watch him because the VP of my division who was visiting from Atlanta wanted to do lunch since I couldn't do dinner last night because Dave was away. Gram cancelled her own lunch plans and saved the day for me (what would I do without these Grandparents?? I have no clue!) I had to use all of my time when I was on maternity leave so I'm dealing with very little time to take off until I can build it back up again. Thursday was a day off for me anyway so I could go on a field trip with Tyler to Merrymead Farm and Gram stayed and watched Zac until we got home. Today, Zac stayed home with me while I worked and we have some coughs starting for both of them and a boogielicious baby who is getting his first tooth any day now. I know all too well now that when it rains it pours around here and then it passes nicely and all is back to normal again. I'll be waiting...
So yeah, we were that family at school this week...the conjunctivitis family.
Cutest sleeping baby in some very metro PJ's...between these and Tyler's new Spiderman PJ's that Dave says looks like an outfit Brian Boitano wore in his figure skating days Dave is questioning what the heck I'm buying....for the record the pink/blue polka dot PJ's were given to us as a gift when Tyler was born :)
Dave got some help blowing out his birthday candles
He's trying to crawl, but hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet, but he loves to stand and play.
And showing off with one hand
Jill and I did a 5k at Penn State Hazleton last weekend (my best time ever for a 5k - 24:27). There was a kids race so we signed Tyler up. Everything was going great until the Nittany Lion came out to start the race so the kids could chase him for the 100 yard loop. Tyler was not having it and was so scared of the lion he ran crying to me and would not run. I finally got him to start going a little and the darn lion appeared again. After the race we went inside and he got to meet the Nittany Lion and give him high fives and fist bumps, say the "We are Penn State" cheer with him and scare him with his roar. They had a moment, just the two of them, and now they're best friends so we'll try the race again next year :)
I love the new robe :)
And the field trip...
Tyler and Wyatt...still best friends :)
Ms. Kristen's two year old class (minus the little guy from the toddler class who snuck in there)
He tries so hard to stand on his own
