Today is my last day of maternity leave. I've worn makeup 3 times since February 27th, I wear sneakers every day and yoga pants and my decisions revolve around which t-shirt I'm going to wear with said yoga pants. This is how I've chosen to live my past 3 months and it has been wonderful! I've cuddled the heck out of Zac, kissed those little cheeks until they were red, been thrown up on, peed on, pooped on (actually this one was compliments of baby Julian while watching him one morning. I'm hoping he'll be reading the blog book with my boys one day and get a kick out of that). Being the little brother, Zac has been on the move, we've run around chasing Tyler, sat in the clubhouse for hours fixing things, went on many walks with the baby brigade and soaked up the awesome weather that we've been having. I can only assume he's enjoyed his first few months in this family and house which I've come to describe very nicely as "organized chaos". But tomorrow, I will return to life as I know it. It's easier this time around. I'm not jumping into a new routine, I'm just sliding back to in the old routine. Zac and I have had so much fun this past 3 months and I won't lie that taking another 3 months off would be nice, but it would be delaying the inevitable. Zac will be with Grammy this week and then off to school starting next week. He's already met his teachers, the kids all know him and I'm at ease to know he'll be spoiled, cuddled and loved when he starts school. And before I know it he'll be running around with his friends, like Tyler, and telling me he's not ready to leave yet. So, for today I say Carpe Diem!
This month marks Dave and I being together for 15 years. Whoa! One day I'll write a post about how we met so the boys will always know our story. For now, here's some of our first pictures together as young-ins.
I also can't forget to mention that Dave and Ryan did the Broad Street Run, a ten miler, a few weeks ago and rocked it! They ran it in under an 8 minute mile. Awesome job guys!
Tyler's lastest interest includes worms and he loves going worm hunting. I knew this day would start where my little boy would try to start bringing creatures into the house and I like how we're easing in to this phase with worms. I can deal with that. He found one the other day and was playing with it and then he told Dave he was "making babies". Yes, one worm became five pieces of worm and that's how he was making babies. Guess we need to work on that.
We also had an intersting conversation the other day as we were driving home from school. Here's how it went.
Tyler - "Mommy, I have a boogie"
Me - "Ok, I'll help you get the boogie when we get home"
Tyler - "No, I'll wait for Daddy to get home. You need muscles to get it."
I've been meaning to write a blankie update for a while now, but forgot. Well...the things that made adults gag and kids run from it is now completely gone and out of the big guys mind. Blankie has been gone for about 2 months and Tyler never asks for it, but has formed a new attachment to another blanket, but he does not suck on this one. The new blanket is one that he used at nap time at school, so now we cart this blanket to and from school everyday so he can have it to sleep with at night too. He also likes to pile other blankets in his bed at night to sleep with. So be it. At least this one below is gone...gone meaning put in the keepsake box because I don't have the heart to throw it away :)
Yesterday, Tyler and Zac spent the day with Gram and Pop and Dave, Juli, Ryan and I headed to a Phillies game. The weather was awesome and it was nice to get out for a while, enjoy the warm, sunny weather and watch some baseball. It was a great afternoon off - thank guys!
