Needless, to say, I think there's a lot more puddle play in the future...followed by hosing the kids off. This is the kind of stuff I remember from my childhood and I hope our kids remember the same.

Fun in the mud
Spring time has brought some mud puddles our way. Tyler, Zac and Juliet had some impromptu mud puddle fun and they loved it. Karen was down the street with Tyler and Juliet and she yelled up to me "Is it ok for Tyler to play in the puddle?". My response "Sure!". When I was a kid I had the freedom to get dirty, play outside and explore. I make sure our kids have the same.

When Dad Leaves Town - Part Deux
Tylerism of the week: Juli and I were in Primo Hoagies with the kids. The guy behind the counter was talking to Tyler and said to him "What's your brothers name?" Tyler said "His name is Zac, but we call him the poop machine!"
Dave went away from Thurs-Sun for a "man weekend" with all the guys. As usual, my kids did not disappoint in having to visit the doctor while Dad was away. Things were just going too perfect. Saturday afternoon, we were playing outside and Catherine and Zac were playing on the swing set together. He'd climb up the ladder, then he'd go down the slide on her lap. They must have done that 5 times or so and when they went down one time Zac got his leg caught and started to scream. Catherine saw that he hurt his leg, but we didn't think it was that bad. When he woke up from his nap he wouldn't walk. Thankfully, Aunt Amy was here so I was able to take him to Urgent Care to to get him checked. He didn't seem like he was in pain, but he was dragging his left leg and just wouldn't walk. We watched him for a while and thought it was his left leg so that's what we were focusing on when I got there. They did an x-ray and didn't see a fracture so they put a splint on him and we made an appointment with Pediatric Orthopedics for this morning. From Saturday until this morning he pretty much didn't walk. He would crawl around and try to stand but that was it. And insisted that I pretty much hold him every second of the day...even while going pee. Yeah, that takes talent. Lots of fun with Dave being gone.
We went to Ortho this morning and they took the splint off and we started to realize that it's actually the other leg that now seemed injured, which I had kind of noticed yesterday morning. The doc pressed on his shins and it was the right leg that seemed to hurt him. Back to x-ray for another view of the legs and those came back showing no fracture. Off we went with his sprained leg and a limpy boy. The doctor said it was on it's way to a "toddler fracture", but didn't get fractured thank goodness! He said it's super common for this to happen to kids and it's textbook the way it happened on the slide. 85% of kids he sees with this do it the exact same way by sitting on someones lap going down the slide and get their foot stuck. Crazy! Here's the little patient...he never really acted like he was in pain through all of this...my happy camper.

Life Lately
Life has been busy. Work has been nuts, the weather has been beautiful and I haven't picked up our real camera in quite a while and it's been nice because I've just been enjoying things. Here's some things that have made me happy the past few weeks...
Alex receiving First Communion and our kids being perfect angels for the entire mass. Tyler telling Alex "You look beautiful Alex, you look like a princess". My heart melts. And having a niece who wants to pose like this in her communion dress. My kind of gal :)

Beautiful blooming trees and the view from my kitchen window. I love it.

Walking with the boys while drinking a milkshake. Yum!

First fire and marshmallow roasting of the season. He's totally in to it.

First time at the circus. He sat amazed and watched for 2 hours. His favorite part was the "Strong Man".

Tyler enjoying his first snow cone and the next day walking downstairs asking me "Mom, what did I eat that my poop is green?". Very observant I tell ya. It was the snow cone buddy :)

His first circus souvenir..a light up sword!

A day spent with our first born at the circus. On the way home in the car I said to Dave "Gosh, isn't one kid easy?" and I turn around and Tyler has the biggest smile/grin on his face and was shaking his head "Yes".

Dad's clown nose

My dude

Bubbles with neighbors

A boy and his car = love

That I don't cry over spilled milk :)

That I'm ok with bringing the car in the house if that's what makes my kid happy :)

That even the most chill kid has a voice to tell you "I'm not happy!"

Little boys who love playing in and eating dirt

Reading on the way to school

When I get a request to "Comb my hair back to make me look like a lion".

Eating popcorn for breakfast

And powdered donuts for dinner

That Tyler loves to do "Cheers!"

Coming home to this

Little shoes on a big boy

When I go out for pizza and beers with the girls and get home to lunches made and clothes for the next day laid out and I didn't even have to ask him to do this. Thankful for an awesome husband ♥

We had a fun night out with friends in the city. I tried taking a picture to show Amy what I was wearing. These other blog people who post pics of themselves daily like this make this seem easy. It was not for me...this was try #5 at a clear picture!

Randomness from this week
We celebrated Aunt Juli's birthday last weekend, which means it was Tyler's job to help blow out candles.

Tyler had his last soccer practice and they played at little game to put together everything they learned. With 2-4 yr. olds it was quite a show. Then they each got to run through the the tunnel of cheering parents giving high fives and got a medal. By the end Tyler and Kavi were over it and we're ready to go to Chuck-e-Cheese for their celebration lunch that we promised them. I'm happy to say we all survived our first Chuck-e-Cheese experience. And I couldn't leave out Andri and Zac who are the upcoming soccer stars.

And Karen and Ben gave us their hammock to use until they find a place to put it in their yard. The kids love it and Juliet has found her peaceful place for sure. She could swing in that thing all day, that is until Tyler comes in and disrupts her. So cute! Now, I just wait for the day that I can actually lay in it for 3 uniterrupted seconds...one can dream right?
