Week in Review

Last week, Tyler's report sheet from school said that every time his teacher looked at him he was eating dirt and mud. The next day, it said "p.s. I like to eat rocks". All of this we already knew we just try to limit his mud/dirt/rock eating to be at home and not in public :) Today, his sheet said they took field trips to the bathroom...this could be the beginning of a good thing. If we could avoid having 2 kids in diapers that would be awesome...wishful thinking perhaps :)

On Friday, I got a call that Tyler had some belly problems and a bad diaper rash. So Tyler and I got to spend a well-deserved rainy Friday afternoon off watching Elmo and playing. By Saturday, he was back in mint condition.

I got to sleep in until 8am Saturday morning. I came down the stairs to find Tyler standing on the coffee table jumping on to the big recliner. This is what happens when Mom sleeps in. EVERY time I do, Dad teaches him a new "trick". Dave says he did this one on his own without being taught. I think he does it so I don't want to sleep in anymore. The kid is adventurous. It's like he doesn't have a fear in the world when it comes to certain things like jumping off stuff, flying down slides, jumping in to the pool, or flying down the stairs in the laundry basket. Dave and Pop pledged the slide this weekend because apparently a slow slide isn't any fun so why not bring out the furniture polish - right?? Life will just keep getting more interesting...I'm sure of it. Mom - I'm sorry for my adventurous ways :)

We were in Pep Boys the other day and Dave was talking to the person at the counter. Tyler was yelling "Dad" and after about 10 yells Dave didn't respond so he started yelling "Dave"!

On Saturday morning we had all intentions of getting Tyler's hair cut. We talked about it all week, but when Saturday morning came we broke down and decided that we didn't want it cut. You wouldn't think that getting a kids hair cut required this much thought, but it took so long for him to actually get hair we just couldn't do it yet. I like the messy look he has going on and it's possible that in time he'll have a nice mullet (or look like Justin Beiber), but for now, the hair cut is going to have to wait.

This morning, as Tyler walked down the stairs he counted from 2-9 all by himself. No prompting, just counting the stairs as he walked. I'm not sure where 1 and 10 went, but this was the first time he counted past 3 on his own and it was one of those moments that I just stood back and watched him and couldn't believe how my baby is growing up.

Here's Dave's Gram...she's still got it at 96 :)

Ryan says, "see you next week, we're bringing our clippers" I think he's serious, Beth. Ryan does not approve of mullets and I was forced to cut Luke's off early on:)
