Over the hump

So I think we're finally over the hump with the weather. Our trees have been blooming with gorgeous flowers, but I somehow forgot to get pictures of them and the flowers are gone. The one in our backyard just bloomed so I finally got a picture of one. We've had lots of rain so everything is coming back to life! I love seasons...just when we start to get sick of one type of weather the seasons change!

I love Tyler's new Toy Story PJ's!

Breaking out the beach toys...

Lots of playing means sometimes you just can't make it through lunch :)

This is my favorite picture of Dave as a kid (I'm pretty sure I had the same haircut)! I see so much of Tyler in him it makes me melt ♥

Dyeing Easter Eggs

Tyler dyed his first eggs tonight! He dropped a few eggs in the cups, but he also wanted to dump the cups. I'll consider it a success since we didn't end up with any colors on the floor or our clothes! :)

Visit with the Easter Bunny

It didn't go so well...he was all about the Easter Bunny and was trying to run up to him when other kids were getting pictures, but wanted nothing to do with him once it was his turn!

My sunglasses actually fit his 90th percentile head nicely :)

Still has some time before Dad's hat fits

Tyler ended his school week by being crazy and funny today :) I get to go to work tomorrow while the boys have a day off!

Viva Las Vegas and so much more...

Dave and I were in Vegas for a few days and got home last Sunday...it's taken my brain one week to actually start functioning again, which is why I'm just writing about this now :)

We went there for our friends Bill and Hillary's wedding and had an awesome time! We got to hang out with a bunch of friends and have a few days of craziness while pretending that we're able to hang like we use to. I'd like to note that I threw my sneakers to the wind and wore heels 3 nights in a row (heels for 1 night is pushing it). By the 2nd night, I had a break down moment where I thought about going to the ER so they could fix my poor feet, but luckily the rest of the girls I was with were in pain too so we all just hobbled along together (with our taped up feet...yes very sexy) and stuck it out reminding ourselves that it's painful to look beautiful ha ha ;)

Dave's parents also went with us and my Mom watched Tyler. He also got to spend a night at his Aunt Jill's and she couldn't believe that she forgot how crazy it was chasing after a 15 month old all day long! Thanks guys!!

I didn't take many pictures on this trip, so this is one of the only ones I have of Bill and Hillary.

While we were there, Dave and 4 other friends did a free fall jump off the Stratosphere. It was really cool and they jumped 1000 feet! Here's the view from below...

Our friends Richard and Nic channeling Ace and Gary

Phew - he made it down!

This week we also had a lot happening at school for Tyler. I got a call on Wed. morning saying that he threw up, but they said he was fine and acting normal so we didn't need to get him unless he did it again. When I went to get him after work I was told that he gagged himself and made himself throw up in the afternoon. We have no idea what he was doing, but I guess this goes under the joys of parenthood topic. He hasn't done it again...maybe he was just discovering that he has tonsils.

Another big moment this past week was that Tyler moved up to the Toddler room for good so he started taking his naps on a mat. I've been having anxiety over this mat thing...I was picturing every other kid laying down for nap time and our kid running circles around them. They said he's doing awesome and he's sleeping and adjusting really well!

Here's the proud toddler!

My cousin started selling Silpada jewelry, so I had a party today. I was a nice day of hanging out with the girls and having some laughs.

Our friend Shannon, Jill and funny faced Alex :)

There's something about this blue pot and kids digging in it. It's gotta be that it's the perfect height for digging. Sydney is quite the lady here...we were watching her from the kitchen :)

Then she decided to pile the dirt on the chiminea

Three little monkeys on the swing. Dave and Ryan had a workout keeping all 3 of them moving.

Week in review

My niece Alex's 6th birthday and getting the cake she's always dreamed of :)

Our newest little cousin Lilah - she's so cute! I very nicely suggested my sister have another one since she looks so happy to be holding a little peanut, but Alex was quick to tell me (with a pout on her face) that her Mom says 2 little girls are more than enough...ha ha! And then the tables quickly turned that it's our job to have another! :)

The climbing calmed down for a little bit and now it's back. This weekend he made it up the ladder on his own for the first time.

Dave has a little shadow these days. This week Tyler started saying "Dave" or at least that's what we think he's saying. He just randomly says it as he's walking around or playing, but he never actually says it to Dave, he always calls him Dada. Weird thing is that I rarely call Dave his name I almost always call him Daddy...guess he's listening to everyone when they talk :)

Playing in and eating dirt.

The Little Patient

This morning Tyler got his tubes put in. It was an early start to our week since we had to be at the hospital at 6am. Tyler was a trooper and a great patient - everything went well! The surgery was really fast and all we had time to do was finish a cup of coffee before the doctor came out to tell us he was done. In the doctor's words "He did awesome! I had to remove a lot of goopy stuff from his ears and the nurse will give you a butt load of instructions" ha ha! The worst part was waiting of course (even though we only had to wait 20 minutes or so) and when he was coming out of the anesthesia he cried pretty bad for about 10 minutes, but then he got better. What was really cool is every person has their own nurse, so she sat in the room with us reassuring us that it's totally normal for them to cry like crazy while they're coming out of it - Nurse Kristen ROCKED! It also helped that both of our sisters warned us too because it was scary that he was inconsolable :(

The major crisis of the morning happened when we got in the car to go home and realized we didn't have his blankie with us...that's when the real panic set in! Dave ran back to the room since we knew we left it there and they couldn't find it, but they wouldn't let him back in the room to look. Thank goodness he was very persistent and kept saying he knew it was in there (I would have been asking to put the hospital on lockdown if I was the one who went in), and they finally found it wrapped up in the bed sheet in the linen basket. Phew...crisis averted!

Real men wear purple hospital gowns :)

We were hoping for the hospital gown, butt crack shot. This is the closest we could get.

Already back up and running!

Dave's parents and sister were here all weekend so Tyler did lots of playing and running around. We're pretty sure he had a few shots of espresso before he left daycare on Friday because he was wired all weekend. He's such a ham and he'll do anything to get a laugh out of you or to make himself laugh! We went to the pediatrician last week and she mentioned the albuterol we needed to give him leading up to the surgery could make him wired. Then, she followed that by saying "Since his baseline is wired, I think he'll be fine taking it at night". I love our doctors :)

Figuring out how much fun socks are on a slippery floor!

Everything is Elmo these days. This outfit make a definite statement!

Front row seat to watch Pop spin the sock monkey on the fan.

This is a BIG moment that we've been waiting for - learning how to go down the steps backwards without us telling him to do it!
