Grab yourself a drink, this is a long one...
It seems like things always happen for us in the beginning of May. Last Friday marked 14 years since Dave officially "asked me out" and we became a couple. On the same day Pop-Pop passed away. May 6th 1997 was a day I'll never forget for both reasons and even though we have a wedding anniversary to celebrate now, I'll never stop remembering that day. Fast forward to 2009 and within the first week of May I found out I was pregnant with Tyler and a few days later my Dad passed away. I truly believe when one person passes another enters your life and this is why God gave me my guys ♥
On a random note, prom season is in full swing! Last Friday the Prom came to our street and it was filled with tons of high schoolers running around in tuxes and dresses getting their picture taken. Apparently, asking someone to the prom now a days is like a marriage proposal. I feel old saying it, but when we went to the prom it was a pretty simple question. Now, it's a huge thing to make it a production to ask someone. So, all I was thinking was "Holy Crap! We better get Tyler's game plan together for asking a girl to the prom because who knows what it'll be like in 15 years!" To keep with the theme, I thought I'd dip in to the archives. Here we are with my Dad for our prom in 1998.
On Saturday, we went to an awesome birthday party for Camille (our friend Nichole's daughter) at Pony Party Paradise! The kids got to ride horses (or in Tyler and Owen's case...look at them from a far and scream when we try to put them on the horse) and check out lots of animals. They also got to feed the animals and while Tyler was scared to ride the horse, he had no problem feeding and petting the llamas, horses and goats.
Ms. Camille - the birthday girl!

Ms. Chloe
Mr. Owen
Ms. Julia
Watching everyone ride the horses
Pondering if he should actually get on one or not
He decided that the wodden one was better
He doesn't quite yet know that a llama is capable of chomping his fingers off!
It was a fun day and we had some pretty pooped boys on the car ride home!
Next up was Mother's day! We spent the weekend hanging out with our Moms and got to visit with Dave's Aunt Ruth who was in from Texas. It was a nice relaxing weekend. Dave and I are blessed to have such wonderful Moms! We didn't take many pictures so here's what we have to document this Mother's Day...
Poop check...every Mom can appreciate this picture :)
I'm a proud Mom...one minute he's helping Dad with the umbrella stand and the next minute looked like he should be auditioning to be a Chippendale or Mr. January :)
Taking a ride at the nursery...
Tyler had his ear tube check up yesterday and everything looked great! He hasn't had an ear infection since he's got them in, so we threw away our frequent flyer card for ear infections! They retested his hearing and everything is 100% normal now (other than the fact that he still has selective hearing with the word "No", which will most likely continue for at least the next 20-30 years). He also ended up getting a chest x-ray done while we were at the hospital because he's had a cough for about 2 weeks and his lungs also looked good! We can now check Radiology off on our list of places that we've visited.
We also had our first parent/teacher conference this week. We got a really good report and it was nice to have some time to talk with his teacher, Ms. Karla. She said he's a very kind and caring little guy who loves art and being outside - Mom and Dad are proud of you T! She loves the kids so much and is lots of fun. I'm so happy that we can rest easy while we're at work and that he has such a great teacher and school! It's amazing how much he's learning and he constantly surprises us with what he knows! Makes a working Mama happy :)
I was having a "He's really growing up" moment. For a few minutes Tyler played in the yard while I got his dinner ready :)
Watching Dad climb the tree...won't be long before he's up there too!
Next up, Uncle Richard and Aunt Deborah are in town and Dave is having a guys weekend with some camping and going to a Nascar race in Dover tomorrow. I get to have a night with the girls and Tyler - yippee!
All Smiles :)
I brought out the bubbles today and they were a huge hit - with all the guys!
All packed and ready to go drink beer and watch cars go in circles really fast!
Some may think I saved the best for last ;) What else goes better with Nascar than Guns and Camo! A friend got us this calendar last week :)
Check out Ms. September - stunning!
