The joys of parenthood!

** Disclaimer: If you do not want to read about baby poop skip this post :) **

I usually try to keep things semi-short on here, but I have to document this because these posts go in to Tyler’s baby book and this one is a keeper.

Like any other morning as soon as I go to put Tyler’s coat on about 30 seconds before we need to walk out the door he crawls away from me thinking I’m playing and chasing him and then I catch him and realize he’s pooped. Well…this morning I ran out of wipes during this diaper change and had to run to his room to get more. I cleaned him up with the one wipe I had left and gave him the decoy remote to keep himself occupied for the .2 seconds I’d be gone to run upstairs (see Exhibit A for decoy remote picture – probably not what parenting 101 teaches, but it works for us he’s taking the bait so far.) I left him 1/2 in his birthday suit to catch a little breeze and came back to find him covered in poop and having some fun. Guess he wasn’t done going to the bathroom and I think he’ll be good at sliding if he ever plays baseball. Thank goodness for hardwood floors!

After I got over my panic attack I stripped him down, threw out his socks (there was no hope), threw dirty clothes in basement for later and off to the bathtub we go. Phew! Clean kid, now just clean the floor right? Wrong! There was a lingering scent and thank goodness I looked in the mirror to remove the remnants I found behind my ear because I found some leftovers in my ponytail too. Ugh - now, it’s Mom’s turn to take her 2nd shower of the morning and find something to do with previously mentioned kid. So I hop in the shower while Tyler unrolls the entire roll of toilet paper, taking a few bites of it a long the way and he's loving every minute of it! This is typically a 'No, and remove from the situation thing', but it was either let him unroll his heart out or go to work with poop in my hair – he knew this was a treat! Finally, now we’re both in new outfits, squeaky clean again, clean up floor and we walk out the door an hour late with cold coffee. To stay on the positive side of things I forgot I had my car warming up so we got in to a really warm car that had been on for an hour and I didn’t have to do any frost scraping on my windows :)

Tyler – when you’re reading this years from now this was a rookie Mommy mistake! I hope you always continue to help keep it real around this place buddy!
