My Mom and Alex watched Tyler for us on Friday night so Dave and I could have a night out! We went to see Phish in Camden with a few friends – it was our “you finally bought a house” celebration. The show was pretty good and it was nice to have a night out and about. Of course going out for the night now means when you return home you still have to be Mommy and Daddy and function on very little sleep because Tyler doesn’t care if we were out or not…when he’s ready to start his day that means we are too!!

We finally closed on our house last Tuesday and are officially homeowners!! Barely awake and after a 2 pots of coffee we started moving on Saturday. We had lots of help from our family which was awesome and we’re trying to get some stuff moved over to our new house while keeping enough in the old house so we could still live. Things have been so hectic here and there’s lots of stuff to do before we move in. Mr. Fix It has already made about 25 trips to Lowe’s. I think he should start working there in his spare time so we can get a discount. His newest endeavors include learning how to dry wall, fixing the water line on our fridge, getting the swing set power washed so we could put stain on it this weekend and getting everything ready to paint. My newest endeavors include swinging on the swings with the little guy, chit chatting with neighbors and finding out that we can walk to an ice cream shop – bonus! I'm sure we will wear the path out :)

We love our new house and a ton of neighbors have come over and introduced themselves to us – everyone is so nice! The guy next door has already offered up the tools in his garage to Dave and told him to use whatever he needs. It feels like a close knit neighborhood and I’m so happy b/c that’s the kind of neighborhood I grew up in and I would love for Tyler to be able to have the same experience! We already found him a friend and hear there's lots of other kids to run around (and get in trouble) with – can’t wait (ok, maybe I can wait on the get in trouble part)!

Here’s what Tyler has been up to. He thinks it’s funny to stand on the couch and then fall in the pillows! We also had to put the bumper back up in his crib b/c he kept getting his legs stuck in the rails and would end up crying in the middle of the night and we'd have to go free him - he's a wiggle worm! And I think we have our first attachment...he loves cuddling with his little blue blanket we usually let him have it for a little while in his crib, but then have to take it away b/c he also loves to cover his face up with it and it freaks me out!

Here's what we've been up to...

Went to Alex and Sydney's dance recital. Alex is second from the right and Sydney is the one looking at the rest of them thinking what are you guys doing?

Getting ready to go pick up some ladies :)

Practicing walking with Pop and Ole' Gram - he loves to stand up!

Father's day with Dad and the Pops!

We got rid of the infant tub and moved on to the big one!

Practicing the pout!

Last Saturday Tyler and I drove to Harrisburg for my friend Erica’s daughters birthday party. Going to the Wagner household has always been fun and this time was no exception…except now we’re all there with our kids – it seems like yesterday that we were on the little league field! I got to hang out with my friends Erica and Nichole (who have been my closest friends for 20 some years!) and all the kids got to play and swim together. Here’s a few pics from the party I didn't have a chance to get pics of the little kids…

Julia turning in to a smurf!

On Saturday Richard, Deborah, Bill and Hillary came to our house to hang out for the night. We had a great time as usual – only difference now is that we have Tyler taking in all that’s happening around him. We’re in for a treat once he starts to talk and tells us what he’s thinking :)

Tyler spent some time relaxing on Deborah's lap - he was very comfy.

We decided to blow up Tyler’s pool for him on Sunday so he could take a dip. Once we blew it up we realized we didn’t have a hose to get water in it (yet another thing to add to the need to buy list). Dad “the Engineer” searched around in the shed and came out with the new lamp post for the light in our front yard and decided that’s how he would fill the pool – he is the master rigger! It did the job, but I had to capture this one for Tyler to see when he’s older :)

We conquered Tyler’s first diaper rash this week and he seems to be fighting a cold or possibly a tooth coming in because the poor guy hasn't been himself this week. Whatever it is I hope it goes away or comes in soon so the little guy can have some peaceful nights again (and we can have some semi-peaceful ones too!)

The Recorder

A few weeks ago, every morning when I woke up I’d hear this weird sound coming from outside. I thought it was the neighbor playing his music loud, but couldn’t even think of what kind of music it was. Then I finally discovered what it was – the little girl next door (who’s in 4th grade) was outside playing her recorder! Tyler and I were serenaded every morning by the “sweet” sound of her music. One day Dave and I saw her playing music for a plant while her friend was singing along telling the plant to grow – I laugh, but maybe that’s what I need to do to keep my plants alive! I think the recorder is a rite of passage in to childhood. So I say…keep on rockin with that recorder my friend and we’ll sure miss your music when we move :)

Week in review

Baby boys were in this week! Welcome to our newest west coast friend Luke William Larson who arrived last Thursday - congrats Melissa and Ryan! And welcome to our newest cousin Cory Lucas Ronczka who was born today - congrats Christa and Luke!

We started last weekend off by Dave having a "man night" with Tyler and I went to Alex's preschool graduation. They had a typical man night..you know beer, hoagies, movies, rice cereal, poker...that kind of stuff :) I watched the preschoolers sing their hearts out for about 15 minutes or so. Alex and Trevor had a duet and belted out the best rendition of "Itsy Bitsy Spider" I've ever heard! We're so proud of her - watch out Kindergarten here she comes!

On Sunday we walked to Manayunk to see the Phila. International Cycling Championship. I've only watched bike races on tv and it was so different seeing it in person. It's crazy how many equipment cars there are driving on the course with the cyclists. The cars and cyclists are going so fast TV definitely slows them down! It was really fun Tyler shook his rattle for the riders and we watched people going to Kegs 'n Eggs parties (we would have joined that party not too long ago :) - we had a wonderful morning!! We forgot our camera, but got some video on our phone it's not that good of quality, but I posted it below.

On Monday I started my new job. I left HP on Friday and I'm sure going to miss all my friends there. I was so fortunate to work with such wonderful people it was a great 5 years! I've been in training every day so far, but did manage to see flat screens tv's, recliners and rock band in the break rooms and there's lots of free coffee and tea. I checked out the most important stuff and I'm sure I'll adjust nicely :) Dave was in Detroit from Sun-Tues. so my Mom came down to help me with Tyler since I wasn't sure of my schedule at the new job she took him and picked him up from day care for me and even fit in some cleaning and packing - thanks Mom!

On to Tyler...I swear he has grown up in the past week. He rolls everywhere and is starting to make his way all over the place! Sweet potatoes now = yummy and he loves squash too! He can sit up on his own and stays there for a little bit before he tumbles over! He's interested in anything and everything within his reach and anything he gets his hands on lands in his mouth. It was really hot here and from the pictures below you can tell how much he wanted a little sip of Dad's beer to help him cool down. He's very interested in drinking anything we're drinking.

Not sure how he got himself wrapped up in his play mat

Started out on the mat and then started exploring the living room

Sweet potatoes - yuck!

We moved on to eating veggies and by the look on Tyler's face you can tell how much he liked his first taste of sweet potatoes. I think he was just shocked about eating something with flavor. We're going to try again tonight and see if we get a different reaction - lol!

Memorial Day weekend

I think it's easy to forget what this long weekend is really all about and we want to say Thank You to all of our veterans and to our military!

What a great weekend! We took a hike, played in the lake, had 2 cookouts, played in the sandbox and went pool hopping around town! Dave and his Dad went to a Run and Gun shoot and had a great time. This was Dave's first shooting competition and he came in 15th and his Dad came in 3rd overall!

Hiking and playing in the lake

Playing in the sandbox for the first time

Tyler started off swimming in his little giraffe pool and by the end of the weekend graduated to the big pool - move over Michael Phelps this kid is a swimming machine! :)

Just chillin

Sweet summer rain

It's not technically summer yet, but it sure feels like it! Dave and I have been soaking up the rain in the warm weather. We both love summer thunderstorms and it's been quite a while since we've been able to sit on the porch during a storm and just take it all in. This past weekend I was watching my nieces play in the rain and it brought back tons of memories for me. They were having so much fun and we can't until we're able to watch Tyler jump in puddles and get all muddy...actually we can't wait to jump in puddles with him!
